Welcome to Thespian Troupe 525
Our Wisconsin Rapids troupe has been an active thespian troupe since 1942!
What is the International Thespian Society exactly?
"The International Thespian Society (ITS), an honorary group for middle and high school theatre students, is a division of the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA). The mission of ITS is to honor student excellence in the theatre arts. Thespian troupes are just a component of a school’s theatre program. ITS membership offers many valuable benefits, services, and opportunities to troupe directors and Thespians alike." ~ ITS Handbook
At our Thespian Initiation night, you will receive a certificate, card and a subscription to Dramatics magazine (via online or paper).
It is recognized as a International Honors Society. See the
Honors Society website for more information about it and for scholarship applications.
Seniors of Excellence and Honor Thespians may wear their pin at graduation as recognition of their hard work, dedication and passion they did while a member of this society.

How to Join our Troupe
Thespian Point System - This is the point sheet that tells you how many points you earn for certain roles. Generally, 1 point equals 10 hours. It is encouraged to earn these points in at least two categories of theatre (ie. not just all in acting or all in production). For our troupe, we have a three show requirement before you are inducted into our troupe. This all can happen in one year or can be spread out through years at LHS. Those who are initiated into our Thespian Troupe automatically receive a LHS Theatre Letter. Our initiation night is the same night as the Teddy Awards.
Thespian Self Nomination Form - Make a copy and type in your information. This sheet MUST be turned in to Mrs Danke in order to be considered for initiation by due date. If you have already turned in a sheet, then you are already in the Initiate System and will have to update your sheet throughout the production season to become an Honor Thespian.
FAQs
Can seniors still apply? - Yes! You may submit to become part of this troupe even though you are graduating.
What is the Thespian Troupe doing next year? We hold meetings and plan events that will be scattered throughout the year (promote productions, MBC, State Theatre Festival, Improv nights, workshop events, Rise to Remember, etc). Members of this troupe are eligible to be officers. Those include president, president elect, secretreasurer, and an outreach officer. See here for advantages of becoming an International Thespian troupe member.
What if I didn't make the qualifications? No worries. You can still be part of the LHS Theatre Dept! Yes, you can attend anything planned by the Thespian Troupe and yes, you may help if they require it (think MBC). This will just help you in your journey to become a member the next year!
Is there a fee? Yes, there is a one time fee of $20 to help pay for the costs of membership. The LHS Theatre Department pays for the rest of the $35 fee. This basically pays for the Dramatics magazine that you get once you become a member and applies to all the resources available to you as well, like scholarships ! Checks can be made out to LHS Theatre Dept or pay in cash.
How do I find out more about announcements for the Troupe? Check CANVAS! There is a button "Thespian Troupe 525" that has all the information for the troupe meetings. Parents are welcome to observe that course for the latest updates. Students and parents are to email Mr Krommenakker or Mrs Danke for access.
