Mississippi State lost a player to ovarian cancer last June. The day prior to a practice, the athlete went through chemotherapy and the next day the team was doing a wall sit as punishment. She lasted 4 minutes and 28 seconds. Because of her treatment, she was not required to do the wall sit, but she is part of the team. After her death, Mississippi State wanted to honor her by advocating for ovarian cancer research. At our National Coaches Conference in January, the Mississippi State coach challenged all of the coaches in attendance to take a stand with them in fighting ovarian cancer. We decided this would be a great opportunity to raise awareness. Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln softball completed the 4:28 wall sit challenge to promote Ovarian Cancer Awareness.
