WRPS Superintendent Search

As the Board of Education undergoes its search for a new Superintendent, we would like to keep our stakeholders informed about the process. This page will serve as an area where the Board will post information as we move through the various phases of hiring our next Superintendent.  Check back for occasional updates! 


UPDATE 2-16-2017

The Board has selected three finalists for second round interviews in the Superintendent search process.  David Aslyn of Bayfield, Wisconsin; Craig Broeren of Barron, Wisconsin; and Kathi Stebbins-Hintz of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin will be participating in an additional interview round in March.  An announcement regarding the selection of a new Superintendent will be issued once a final decision has been made.


UPDATE 1-24-2017

The Board of Education is pleased to announce that after reviewing application materials for the Superintendent position, applicants have been identified for initial screening interviews.  Following these initial screening interviews which will occur in early February, the Board will announce the names of 2-3 candidate finalists once they have agreed to participate in a second round interview.

A second round of interviews will be conducted with the finalists, a contract offer will be negotiated, and the Board President will announce who the next Superintendent will be once the Board has met to formally approve of the contract and appointment.

The interview panel will consist of the Board and invited staff members including an administrator, teacher, and support staff member.  Additionally, a parent representative as well as a member of the community will be invited to participate.


UPDATE 1-23-2017

The application period for the WRPS Superintendent of Schools has now closed.  

UPDATE 12-9-2016

Results of all Focus Group sessions held and surveys collected have been compiled!  The Board utilized this information as they developed job posting information.  The Board will continue to review the data collected from stakeholders as they move through the search process.  As candidates are screened and interviewed, the Board will be focusing on the qualities and characteristics that many expressed as being important.

Tentative Timelines for the Search (subject to change throughout the process):

  • December 12, 2016 - January 20, 2017:  Job Posted
  • January 20, 2017:  Candidate Applications Due
  • February 6-17, 2017:  Initial Screenings/First Round Interviews Conducted to Select Finalists
  • March 6-10, 2017: Finalist Interviews
  • March 13-16, 2017:  Contract Negotiated with Finalist, New Superintendent Announced

Some time in January, the Board will contact individuals that they intend to invite to be a part of the interview team.  The interview panel will include a parent, business/community leader, and staff.

UPDATE 12-1-16

On November 30, 2016, the Board finished hosting its Focus Group meetings with staff, parents, and community members.  The sessions were well attended.

Additionally, the online survey requesting input from all stakeholders closed on November 23, 2016.  Results are being compiled, and will be shared soon.
