Compensatory Time
< Back
Compensatory time may be accumulated for hours worked in excess of an employee’s regularly scheduled hours in accordance with applicable law. An employee may not exceed his/her regularly scheduled hours without pre-authorization from the employee’s principal or director. If the principal or director is not available, then permission must be obtained from the designee. If neither option is possible, a phone call or email to the Director of Human Resources must be made. Employees who exceed their regularly scheduled hours without permission are subject to discipline.
Compensatory time for hours exceeding forty (40) in a work week will be accumulated at the rate of time and a half. Compensatory time may not be accumulated in excess of twenty-four (24) compensatory hours. Employees shall provide written notice of their intent to bank and use compensatory time off to their principal or director. The principal or director will sign all records of compensatory time earned and used.
Employees may use accumulated compensatory time off only with permission from the employee’s principal or director. The principal or director will approve the acceptable number of hours used at one time per request. An accurate record of compensatory time earned and used will be kept on file in the principal or director’s office. Compensatory time off shall be entered in AESOP as special leave with pay. A signed compensatory sheet must accompany the employee’s time sheet when the compensatory time is being utilized.
All compensatory time off shall be used prior to the end of the fiscal year in which it is banked. Compensatory time will not be carried forward into the following fiscal year.
