School Social Worker/Homeless Liaison Email Phone: (715) 424-6740 ext. 3068 I’m Tessa Gruszynski, the School Social Worker for Wisconsin Rapids Area Middle School and Central Oaks Academy. I began my career as a School Social Worker for Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools in 2005. Through my position as School Social Worker, I work closely with students and families to reduce barriers to education and ensure that students are ready to learn. These barriers can include (but not limited to) homelessness, poverty, attendance, and social/emotional/behavioral functioning and are reduced through preventative programs, connection to community resources, and individualized and family services. If you feel your student or family could benefit from any of these services or to opt your student or family out of school social work services, please contact me at 715-424-6740 ext. 3068 or tessa.gruszynski@wrps.net. I work in partnership with many basic need programs including FOCUS Family Backpacks, WRPS- Keep Kids Warm, and WRPS- Caring Closet. FOCUS Family Backpacks (FFB) is a free weekend food program for school-aged students and their families. Enrollment is ongoing and the first meal backpack will be sent home with students at the beginning of October. If you feel your family would benefit from FFB, please contact me 715-424-6740 ext. 3068 or tessa.gruszynski@wrps.net. WRPS- Keep Kids Warm provides winter clothing (jackets, snow pants, hats, gloves/mittens, boots) to students in need. More information about our Keep Kids Warm events will be available this fall. WRPS- Caring Closet provides clothing and hygiene to students in need. To access this resource, please contact me at 715-424-6740 ext. 3068 or tessa.gruszynski@wrps.net.
