Director of Teaching and Learning Email Phone: (715) 424-6721 Ext.1053 My name is Roxanne Filtz. I graduated from UW-Stevens Point in December of 1988 with a degree in English Education. I have been with the Wisconsin Rapids Public School District since 1989. I began my career as an 8th and 9th grade English teacher at East Junior High School. During my time teaching I earned my Master's Degree in English in 1994. In 2002, I earned my National Board Certification in English Language Arts and successfully renewed that certification again in 2012. In 2013 I earned my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and then added on my Master's in Curriculum in 2016. Education has always been important to me - both my own and that of every student whose life I touch. In 2015 I became the principal of THINK Academy. I served in that role, learning a great deal about the youngest learners in our district. Then, in February of 2020, I became the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the WRPS district. This has been a life-long goal of mine as I can now impact the learning of all students from our earliest learners through our seniors who are preparing for life after high school. The Wisconsin Rapids School District has given me many opportunities to grow both as a professional and as a leader. My goal is to continue to give back to the district for all they have given to me. I am very proud of WRPS and of the many students and staff members who have crossed my path during my 35 years of teaching and leading in this district. I look forward to continuing to make a difference in education.
