My name is Rod Watson and I am excited to be the next principal at Lincoln High School. I have worked hard to prepare for this role and I know I’m ready to lead LHS to the next level. My background includes a mixture of public school experience, professional development, and military training. I have had three stops as an educator. I was a social studies teacher at an alternative high school in the Chicago suburbs for ten years, an associate principal at Shawano Community Middle School for seven years, and just finished a three-year stint as principal of Pittsville High School. I’ve developed myself as an educator by earning a Master’s degree in Teaching and Leadership, a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction, and National Board Certification. I am also a soldier in the Wisconsin National Guard, currently serving as an intelligence officer with the 1-105th Cavalry Regiment in Madison. All of these experiences and training have prepared me to be the best principal I can be for the students of Lincoln High School.
I am very excited about this opportunity. To be able to serve in an excellent high school in the same town in which I live is a dream come true. If I could design a school to fit what I believe is ideal for an American teenager, it would look a lot like LHS. We have the facilities, programming, staff, opportunities, and community support to help our students make the most of their potential. Every student in this country deserves a quality education in a safe school and our students at LHS get that without fail. I am humbled by the opportunity to keep this school in the excellent shape it is in, to build on the steps that have already been taken to help the staff to meet the needs of our diverse learners, and to serve this community the best way I know how. I look forward to getting to know each of you and doing the very best I can to help our young scholars. Thanks for your time and Go Raiders!
