Q. May I use an instructional computer for personal purposes?
A. The electronic resources (iPads, Chromebooks, Laptops, Tablets, etc) provided by the District are intended for educational purposes. Occasional personal use of the e-mail system is allowed only when it does not interfere with the employee's day to day responsibilities.
Q. Is my use of the computer private?
A. The District reserves the right to monitor the use of its electronic resources (iPads, Chromebooks, Laptops, Tablets, etc) to ensure that they are being used appropriately. Employees should assume no privacy in their communications or use of the network.
Q. May I bring my own computer to school to use?
A. You may bring a personal device to school to use, but it is recommended you do not use it widely for school related purposes. Any personal devices used for school related functions (email, document creation, grading, etc) are subject to potential open records requests. Personal devices are not allowed to connect to the WRS wireless network or the WRPS wired network. Personal devices should connect via a wireless connection to the Guest network. If you have further questions, contact the District Technology Director with questions.
Q. May I install my personal software on school equipment?
A. No. Only District-owned software may be installed on school equipment. You may wish to consider donating your software to the District. Contact your building technology coordinator or technology coach for more information.
Q. What uses are not allowed?
A. The District provides hardware and software for educational and professional purposes only. You may not use District equipment for illegal, inappropriate, or obscene purposes.
Q. What happens if I violate this policy?
A. Violations are handled in accordance with Board policy and contractual agreements.
