Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools: Supporting Every Student’s Success
An Overview of Our Multi-Level System of Supports (MLSS)
At Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools (WRPS), we work together with families and the community to provide the best education for every student — enabling each to grow as a thoughtful, responsible contributor to a changing world.
Our Multi-Level System of Supports (MLSS) reflects our mission and beliefs: that each student comes first, that all students can learn, and that a safe, caring, and respectful environment is essential for learning. MLSS ensures students receive the support they need, when they need it, so they can reach their full potential — academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally.
What Is MLSS?
MLSS is a district-wide approach to teaching, learning, and supporting all students. It ensures students receive the right support at the right time — whether that means enrichment, a little extra help, or more targeted support.
What This Looks Like:
- All students receive high-quality instruction every day.
- Some students receive extra support in specific areas, often in small groups.
- A few students may need individualized or intensive support to succeed.
- Supports (may also be referred to as interventions) may include academic and social, emotional, and/or behavioral skill development.
How We Support Every Student:
- We look at a range of student data to guide decisions and adjust instruction or supports.
- Classroom practices are designed to include and reflect the experiences of all learners.
- Our practices are grounded in brain science and evidence-based approaches that support student learning, development, and well-being.
- Our schools are rooted in systems that help students feel safe, respected, and ready to learn — and we continue to strengthen those systems every year.
- Teachers, counselors, social workers, and other faculty and staff collaborate consistently to respond to student needs and support growth.
We are proud of the dedication, collaboration, and care our staff bring to this work every day.
Focusing on the Whole Child:
- Our goal is to help students build academic skills and the social and emotional tools they need for success in school and life.
- We are working to ensure every student develops skills for emotional regulation, healthy relationships, and responsible decision-making — all within the school day.
Working Together with Families:
We believe learning is a lifelong process and that strong home-school-community partnerships are essential to continuous improvement. Families are encouraged to stay connected and take an active role in their child’s growth and learning.
Who to Contact if You Have Questions about Your Child’s Education:
Start by reaching out to your child’s classroom teacher. If you need further support, please contact your school’s principal or administrator.
At WRPS, we take pride in being a district of choice in Central Wisconsin — where skilled staff, supportive school communities, and strong systems work together to meet the needs of all learners. As we continue to evolve, our commitment remains the same: every student is seen, supported, and empowered to succeed — in school and beyond.
