On behalf of the students, staff, faculty, and administration, I warmly welcome you to the Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools!
As you explore our website, you will discover the many great things happening daily in our district. When you visit our schools, you will experience firsthand our strong academic and co-curricular programming. WRPS has a solid foundation, and I am proud to share that one of my children has graduated from Lincoln High School, and another will complete his K-12 career at WRPS in the 2024-25 school year.
Our school district has many successes to celebrate, including our nationally recognized theater program, athletic championships, math award winners, and Kohl Excellence Scholars. Our staff has also received numerous accolades, such as Kohl Fellowship awards and Principal or Teacher of the Year recognitions. In addition, our numerous community partnerships enhance and expand the educational opportunities available to students. We are immensely proud of the countless student milestones and achievements happening at WRPS throughout the year!
The recent passage of two referendum questions demonstrates the strong community support for education in Wisconsin Rapids. The capital referendum funding has enabled us to make important updates to our facilities, which have enhanced learning spaces and improved school safety and security. The operational funding approved and in effect through 2025-26 has helped to ensure that our technology and curriculum are regularly updated, providing cutting-edge resources and tools to support student learning and engagement, ultimately preparing them well for their future careers.
Personally, I am blessed with two wonderful children: Isabelle, a sophomore at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, is majoring in Biological Sciences for Business, and Jonah, a senior at Lincoln High School, is involved in football, track, and DECA.
Professionally, I graduated from Antigo High School in 1990 and received my bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in 1995, with a double major in History and Political Science and a minor in Secondary Education. I earned my master's degree in Educational Leadership from Marian University in 2003, and I am currently enrolled in an Educational Administration Specialist program at UW-Superior.
My teaching career began at Reedsburg Area High School in January 1996, where I taught many social studies courses until May 2003. I then served as Associate Principal at Reedsburg Area High School. While at Reedsburg, I advised a state award-winning Student Council for 12 years, coached freshman boys' basketball for five years, initiated a mock trial program, and traveled abroad with students every other year, exploring various European countries.
From 2008 to 2012, I served as Principal of Mauston High School, where we developed a strategic plan focused on the whole student and our "Commitment to Excellence." This included developing Professional Learning Communities for staff and emphasizing "Rigor, Relevance, and Relationships" with our students.
In August 2012, I joined Lincoln High School as Principal. Over the past twelve years, I have been extremely impressed with our faculty's dedication to meeting our student's needs and proud to witness student excellence both in and out of the classroom. I am pleased with the many improvements we have made to the physical campus at LHS to provide greater academic and athletic opportunities for our students. These upgrades have also provided additional opportunities for community recreation.
Beginning in July 2024, I am honored to serve as the Superintendent of Schools for WRPS. Our staff and I are dedicated to our Mission Statement: Working together with home and community, we are committed to providing the best education for every student, enabling each to be a thoughtful, responsible contributor to a changing world.
While our schools will always face challenges, I believe our partnerships with parents, families, organizations, and businesses will help us overcome any adversities.
