KG - Grade 1 Age Requirements
A child must be five years old on or before September 1 for entrance into kindergarten, or six years old on or before September 1 for entrance into first grade. Kindergarten students who attended 4K in the WRPS school district during the previous school year do not need to re-enroll.
What you will need to enroll:
Students, in all grades, who have never attended WRPS will need a birth certificate, baptismal certificate, passport, OR immigration certificate in order for us to verify birth information. This document can be uploaded in Step 1 of the online enrollment process. We need to receive this document before we can proceed with processing your child's enrollment..
Families must provide proof of residency for the students being enrolled. Residency is the address at which the child physically resides, keeps their personal belongings and receives mail. This residency must be a street address; Post Office boxes are not accepted. Any of the following will be accepted as proof of residency:
- Valid Driver's License with matching address
- Most recent property tax statement
- Current signed residential lease (including a landlord's name, address, phone number, and lease start date and end date)
- Rent payment receipt
- Current utility bill (gas, electric, water or phone)
- Current auto or health insurance document
- Current state or federal benefit statement
Please upload your proof of residency document during Step 2 of the enrollment process. Proof of residency must be received before we can proceed with processing your child's enrollment.
Note: If you are not able to upload the required documents, please complete the steps in online enrollment, submit the enrollment, and then present the documents to our District Enrollment office at 311 Lincoln St, Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
As outlined in Board Policy, homeless children and youth will be immediately enrolled and permitted to attend classes and school activities. Enrollment will not be denied due to the lack of any document normally required for enrollment.
