LHS Health Sciences Program

LHS offers a full Health Sciences academic program.  Originally offered as CCHI (Central Cities Health Institute), we have expanded our offerings and levels of participation of our students.  The curriculum is designed for students to increase their exploration and exposure in all health careers.  The high demand to fill jobs in the health care industry in South Wood County and across the nation and the increased rate of students interested in health careers verified the need to create this health science program.

Students are engaged in classes to prepare them for entry-level work experiences as well as post-secondary education.  Through the health science program, students have the opportunity to gain First Aid, CPR/AED, and Nursing Assistant certification.

The curriculum includes hands-on, work-based education to increase student’s critical thinking, academic, and employability skills.  A major goal of the Institute is to assist the health care industry in the recruitment and retention of committed, mission-oriented health care employees.
