Safety Cadets

Safety Cadets at Our School

Cadets agree to the following:

• Cadets will agree to a rotation of duties as scheduled by their team captains. Signing the permission slip shows that you agree to serve all posted areas.
• Cadets need to attend monthly safety meetings.
• Cadets are role models. Cadets need to show honorable behaviors.
  • Initiative with post position and communication about the role (CARES)...especially assertiveness to students while keeping them safe.
  • Resourcefulness in solving duty problems.
  • Attendance and participation at safety meetings
  • Tolerance
  • Voluntary work with organizing cadet functions...set up for holiday party, safety skits, meeting announcements/posters, tours for new cadets, training of post positions, help with recycling efforts, etc.
• Cadets can receive demerits. Examples are:
  • Repeated late work
  • Inappropriate language/behavior
  • Repeatedly being late for class without an acceptable excuse
  • Missing duty without arranging a substitute
  • Any behavior that requires a Fix-It Plan or seeing the principal
  • Repeated infractions of classroom/school rules in a given day
  • Cadets need to maintain acceptable grades to continue safety patrol service.
  • If a cadet is not working up to their fullest potential, the cadet will become inactive until their work has improved. Once class work has improved, a cadet may resume his/her responsibilities.

As a member of the Safety Patrol at Grant Elementary, you will join hundreds of students across the country in a time-honored tradition of protection for children as they travel back and forth to school and throughout their time at school during the day.
