ACCUPLACER
Mid-State Technincal College and other technical colleges require most new students to complete the ACCUPLACER prior to entrance into a program. The ACCUPLACER measures reading, language, and math skills through a series of multiple-choice questions presented on the computer. ACCUPLACER is not timed, but usually takes about 2 hours to complete. The ACCUPLACER is offered at LHS the first Tuesday morning of each month, October-May, or at Mid-State Technical College during the week. Please see your counselor to register or if you have any questions.
ASVAB (Armed Services Vocation and Aptitude Battery)
Thinking about the military? Then....Consider taking the ASVAB sometime during your sophomore or junior year. For more specific information about the ASVAB, talk to your conselor.
PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Exam
The PSAT, when taken as a junior, is the only means of qualifying for National Merit recognition. If you are thinking about applying to schools out of state and are a high achieving student you may consider taking the PSAT. Talk to your conselor about whether the PSAT is for you. This test is given at Lincoln High School in the fall.
Advanced Placement (AP) Exam
AP Exams represent the culmination of AP courses and are thus an integral part of the program. As a result, Lincoln High School fosters the expectation that students who enroll in an AP course will go on to take the corresponding AP Exam. Because the College Board is committed to providing access to AP Exams to all students, it does not require students to take an AP course prior to taking an AP Exam. However, students are highly encouraged to take a formal AP course at Lincoln High School before completing a corresponding AP exam. There will be a fee for each exam.
Each exam is based on the subject matter outline in its corresponding AP Course Description. These booklets can be downloaded free of charge from http://www.collegeboard.com/apstudents. AP Exams contain multiple-choice questions and a free-response section (either essay or problem solving).
