| West Students Win Program Award |
| On June 1, 2009, the West Teen Advocates, a student leadership group at West Junior High, won the River Cities Community Access award for best program in the category of “One Camera and No Editing.” The program was broadcast last spring, and consisted of a panel of four West Junior High students. The discussion, facilitated by Jim Walsh, focused on the dangers of prescription drug misuse. Meg Kumm, now a sophomore at Lincoln, and Jenny Sedall, a freshman at West, represented the panel at the ceremony and accepted the award. Much of the work and planning was done by the West Teen Advocates in preparation for this televised panel. The staff and students at West Junior High School are very proud of the accomplishments of this group! |
