A unified school district with a school enrollment of approximately 5,800, the Wisconsin Rapids Public School District includes nine K-6 elementary schools, two junior high schools (grades 7-9), one senior high school (grades 10-12), one charter school (Central Cities Health Institute – grades 11-12) and an at-risk alternative school (grades 9-12). The school system has earned a solid reputation as a progressive, professional organization, with high student achievement and a low dropout rate. Staff members continue to be recognized by state organizations and agencies for their professionalism and expertise. District graduates have demonstrated success at Big-Ten Universities, Ivy League schools, military academies and other public and private schools of higher education. 

 

Wisconsin Rapids Economy 

The major employer in the area, Stora Enso (formerly Consolidated Papers, Inc.), is a leading producer of enamel papers for the print media and employs over 5,000 people. Other industries, besides those allied to papermaking, include: McCain Foods, Domtar Paper Co, Ocean Spray, Renaissance Learning, Northland Cranberries, cheese and other food processing, chemicals, and cranberry growing and processing. Industrial and business parks serve a vast array of companies as manufacturing and distribution centers.
