Advocate for WRPS Education Fund

Mission Statement

The Advocates for WRPS Education Fund represents a community-based effort to provide supplemental funding to enrich the academic, cultural, athletic, and overall experience of students and staff; and to encourage and reward educational creativity and innovation in the pursuit of excellence in education in the Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools.


 Grant Application Criteria

The Advocates for WRPS Education Fund will generally consider funding grant requests up to $500 for projects that will benefit students and staff in the Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools.  Applications will be accepted from an individual or group with a desire to support the districts educational mission.

Applications will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

1.     Relevance of the proposed project to the Advocate Mission.

2.     Evidence of how this project will improve on current practices.

3.     Justification for funding that exceeds the school district resources.

4.     Correlation with curriculum/instructional goals of your school building and/or the district.

5.     Length of project with preference for model projects of one year or less.

6.     Clarity of project evaluation plan.

7.     Potential to serve as a model that could be duplicated within the school district.

8.     Evidence of cooperation with other community resources or persons who share similar interest's.


 Schedule

1.     Completed grant application forms are due Feb 1st.  Late applications will not be considered.

3.     Grant selections will be made and award winners notified by March 15th.

4.     Project funds should be used within one calendar year from date issued.

5.     A final written report of the project outcome must be submitted to the Advocates for WRPS Education Fund Committee, as specified in the Conditions of Grant Letter, within 30 days of the project's completion.  If available, photographs, videotapes or other documentation would be appreciated in order to help promote future projects.
 


Grant Program

Thank you for your interest in the Advocate for WRPS Education Fund.  The Advocate Fund offers an unrestricted grant program. Grant applications are available on September 1st of each year.

Proposals will be accepted for projects that creatively enhance the education and instruction of students in any academic discipline.  Grant applications may be submitted for any project that meets the mission of the Advocates for WRPS Education Fund and is not supported through normal school operating budget.  School district staff or any community member in partnership with an educator for students in grade K-12 may submit a grant application.

Grants financially supplement creative, innovative educational project for the WRPS teachers, teaching assistants, parents/citizens, and nonprofit organizations who are involved in activityies for WRPS K-12 students.

Additionally, grants may support educational efforts or training of students or coach participating in co-curricular activities.  Co-curricular activities are defined as those involving performance, publication or competition in which students represent the school and do not receive academic credits.  These may include interscholastic athletes (but not intramural athletics), debate and other organizations that either have competitions (i.e. DECA), put on performances (i.e. drama/music) or produce publications (i.e. school newspapers or yearbook) where the group represents the school as any part of the competition, performance or publication.  Grant applications may be made in support of any student, employee or affiliate (i.e. volunteer coaches/advisors) involved in an eligible co-curricular activities in grades K-12.  Grants may not be used for co-curricular operating expense such as uniforms, equipment or travel.



Instructions for Grant Application

Grant applications will receive a letter announcing the grant award or denial by March 15th.

Approved grantees will also be provided with information about distribution of funds and other general expectations.

Project funds should be used within one calendar year from date issued.  Grants should be considered seed money for special projects and not a resource for on-going funding.

Grantees should carefully track expenses and save receipts for the use of grant funds.  The fund will no reimburse for previously incurred expenses.  Unused grant funding of $20 or more should be returned to the Advocates for WRPS Education Fund.

A final written report must be submitted within 30 days of the project's completion.

Applications may be submitted by a WRPS district staff member or any community member in partnership with an educator or students in grades K-12.
